Throughout history, people wear their hair in a variety of ways, largely determined by the mode of culture they live in. Hairstyles are markers and marker of social class, age, marital status, the identification of race, political beliefs and attitudes about gender.
For most of history, women’s hair had been allowed to grow long, full and then bleached, colored, curled, wrinkled, organized and otherwise modified, often used up and fastened with a pin, Ribbon, jewelry and a comb. In many cultures, often for reasons of religion, women’s hair covered in public, and in some, such as the Orthodox Jewish community, Orthodox or European female hair shaved or cut very short, and covered with a wig. Only since the end of World War I had begun to wear their hair women short and in a style that was quite natural.
